Mandy and Aaron finally had their baby. Carly Ann was born early this morning and is about 12 hours old in this picture. Of course I'm biased, but I think she's adorable.

I spent a few hours at the 2008 North American International Auto Show, the biggest auto show in North America and one of the major shows across the globe. This year marked my 15th year going. I haven't missed a show since my first one in 1994. This here is a nice Ferrari 430.

Looking here at a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and a Murcielago.

This is a BMW 1-Series convertible.

This boy seems to like the Infiniti G37. His dad was yelling at him, telling him to get out of my picture, but I actually took the picture specifically because the kid was in it.

A Nissan Skyline GT-R.

This is the Camaro from Transformers.

One of my favorites, the new Corvette ZR1 has over 620 horsepower.

2008. Already.

We spent Christmas morning at Mandy and Aaron's house. It was a lot of fun, of course, and Aunt Sharry being in town made it even better. Here, Ewan sits in what will soon be Carly's nursery.

I found this lamp at Treasure Mart in Ann Arbor. That was my first visit there; what a great place! Where else can you find an old fire extinguisher turned into a lamp? With her permission, of course, I gave it to Laura for her birthday.

Since she already knew what it was, I figured I'd at least have fun wrapping it. I was pretty proud of this wrapping job, to be honest. I almost wanted to just leave this how it was.

20 December 2007

It's been a while since my last update, so I'm throwing a bunch of stuff in here -- some old, some new, but not anything that you've seen already. Enjoy!

Let's go back to this most recent July, when I photographed Gordon around town in his new suit. I found this picture as I was looking through the stack and found that I like it quite a bit; more, in fact, than the other picture with the red wall.

This picture takes us back even further to about one year ago. I was looking through some files of film that I took in Egypt and found this one. I took it at the pyramids in Giza; it's telling me that I can't take pictures inside the tomb. Whoops. I was happily snapping away along with everybody else. My Arabic is limited but I'm pretty sure that it says: momonoa dHool camerat altsooer, which translates to "forbidden entry cameras imaging."

On a related note, I would love to take Arabic lessons. I just had a lot of fun translating that.

Going back even further to the summer of 2005, I find a picture of Morgan, who was my partner in quite a few photo classes at WCC. I'm taking another photo class this upcoming semester, advanced studio techniques. Bonus: it's being taught by my favorite instructor, Don Werthmann.

I want to make all of you jealous of my living room. Yes, the TV is 65" and the shelf is filled with fun toys. Most of the stuff is owned by my roommate John, but it's nice to have it in the house.

This is from this past fall, just playing around with my camera and lights. I think it's a pretty decent shot; too bad the subject matter is so boring.

Also from the fall, this leaf was sitting outside my bedroom window. The leaf was out of place because there are no trees that could drop the leaf here. I wonder how far it traveled to make it there?

Speaking of blurry pictures, I started playing around with my Rodenstock XR-Heligon lens again. It was originally used in an X-ray machine, but I now hold it up to the front of my camera to have some fun. It makes for some nice abstracts. In order, these three pictures are my clock radio, a glass of water, and a notebook; just three items sitting on my nightstand.

This one appears to be from the summer time. It's a flower!

The Fink family hired me for some Christmas portraits. Here's Sam pretending to work.

This one was easy. I had them all pile onto the Ford (GP, jeep, whatever) and smile.

This one was slightly more difficult, but it is oh-so Americana.

Ahh, finally, in mid-December we got a real snowstorm. Here's my Miata and Gordon's Mustang buried out on the street. This picture was taken around noon and it continued to snow until well into the evening. We ended up getting a few more inches than this for a total of maybe seven or eight. I think.

Daddy pulling his girl to Grandma's house. The girl had a blast. The dad commented on how he'd like one of those sleds that stays on top of the snow as opposed to digging down into it.
