I'm in Indianapolis for the week, visiting Laura and Pete. Lena loves to
show off her stomach.

Ewan loves to pose for the camera.

Back in Ypsilanti, John's Mustang is for sale. Somebody buy it.

I recently moved into this house with John and Gordon. Sweet.

This is my room. There is a ledge running along the wall. It's great
for books, pictures, bottles, whatever.

I covered the back and side of my dresser in license plates.

This is from a recent photo job in Pinckney, MI. This little guy was
in town with his siblings and cousins.

The Park family wanted some portraits taken in Arcadia while they
were on vacation, so they were generous enough to bring me up into town for a few days
to grab some photos. I had a great time and got some good stuff. I particularly like
this one. They're a fun family.

The Walls also got some pictures taken. Here they are in front of a
Lake Michigan sunset. They're posed here, obviously, but this is a bit more candid
than the usual family portrait. I like it.

This is Rachel, a girl from another Arcadia family wanting pictures.
Yeah, I know, it's the second picture today of somebody jumping onto the beach, but what
can I say? I like it! This was her idea and I think it worked pretty darn well.
After arriving home from Arcadia, it was off to Whitehall for Aunt Helen's
70th birthday. Wow!

This is Aunt Helen. If I had to guess, I'd think she was maybe in her
mid 50s.

Helen and her husband, Andy, pictured here in the middle, own a bed
and breakfast in Whitehall, MI. It's called
A Finch Nest
and it looks like a great place to stay.

That evening, Andrew and Sam brought out the guitars and mandolin and
entertained everybody with some music.

Just trying some new flash techniques. Gordon, as usual, was more
than happy to pose for pictures.

That is all. -Austin

Last week, my dad and Rita rented a cabin on Lake Leelenau in
the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan. You Michiganeers know where
I'm talking about. Everybody else, if you're confused, hold up your right hand, palm
facing toward you. Fingers together, thumb out at a 45 degree angle. Congratulations,
you've just made a perfect map of Michigan. Now look at the very tip top of your pinky
finger. That's where I was. As a reference, I live on the bottom right side of your
hand, near the wrist. It's about a 4½ hour drive.

Lake Leelenau is warm and great for swimming. Here, we're anchored
in shallow little cove. The weather and water were perfect and warm.

The boat was a lot of fun.

I learned how to water ski. I'm not great at it, or even good,
but I'm still figuring stuff out. Here's Rita on the water. She's great at skiing.

Lake Michigan at sunset. This is the view from the Sleeping Bear
Dunes national lakeshore (or something like that). This is right by Glen Arbor.

Playing around with small strobes.

More Miata, and more experimenting with artificial light.

The pinky area of Michigan is famous for cherries. This is a
grove of cherry trees.

A view across one of the many fields. This area of the state
is absolutely beautiful.
